About BENKŐ Engineering Office Limited

Foundation, owners

BENKŐ Engineering Office was founded in 1993 as a family business. The founding owners are Dr. Kálmán Benkő and Mrs. Kálmán Benkő.

Company profile

From the beginning, the main profile of the company is strategic planning of high and medium voltage public purpose electrical networks. This means analysis of a bigger area (e.g. Northern Transdanubium, 1-2 counties, or 3-4 districts of the capital), and creation of a (system approach) development and reconstruction plan consisting of multiple phases. The result is a study that specifies (and schedules) development and reconstruction tasks for the next 5-10 years.

As time went on, additional preparation and evaluation tasks also came into the picture, such as:

  • Processing and documentation of measurement data about the current state of the network (including data cleaning and credibility studies).
  • Complex state evaluation of the existing network.
  • Build-up and regular update of databases used for computer aided simulation (network and load models).
  • Creation of middle and long term load prognosis.
  • Finalization of tender books for construction planning.
  • Creation of emergency (havaria) plans, taking into account especially large break-downs in the electrical distribution network.

Since 2005 BENKŐ Engineering Office contributes to the product support of the NEPLAN network simulation software in Hungary.

Company philosophy

From the beginnings, the owners wanted to create an engineering office that may be few in numbers but is great in quality. The goal was that the company:

  1. Represents the highest work quality.
  2. Belongs to the bests in Hungary (in the fields of the main profile).
  3. Also undertakes a special school-creating mission.

The initial size of the company (3 people) has been grooving gradually - we have more than 10 employees at the time being.
